Italian Construction Methods Violins
All
instruments are built to the client’s requirements using the violin
models of Guarneri del Gesu 1734, Stradivari 1703, and Gofriller 1700,
except by other arrangements.
All
construction methods utilized are practically the same as those of the
great classical Italian lutai of three hundred years ago.
Violas
Available
in several sizes- 16 inch (41cm), 16 1/2 (43 cm) and even larger. Models
are A. Stradivarius 1690 (modified), GB Guadagnini 1785 and as well
as Terenzio's personal model.
Cellos
Built
after the designs of A. Amati 1560, A. Stradivari 1721.
Materials
Fine
European maple, aged a minimum of thirty years, from the forests of
Germany, Switzerland and Yugoslavia.
Very
old air-dried spruce and chosen to compliment the back and chosen model.
One-piece
backs
Available
at a slightly higher price.
Varnishes
Made
in our shop over a one to three year period and according to ancient
recipes coloring them with predominately hand- ground natural vegetable
and mineral pigments as they were in the classical European schools
of the 17th, 18th, and 19 centuries.
Antiquing
Available
and specific copies can be created at the client’s request.
Although
time consuming, all attention to detail will be painstakingly undertaken
to achieve the look and sound of the great masterpieces of the great
Italian epochs of musical instrument craftsmanship.
